Uttarakhand: Kedarnath Yatra Temporarily Suspended Due to Heavy Rainfall and Landslides, Administration Urges for Safety
In Uttarakhand’s hilly regions, heavy rainfall and landslides have been increasing during the monsoon season. Due to this, the Kedarnath Yatra has been temporarily suspended for two to three days by the administration. The decision prioritizes the safety of pilgrims. Incidents of landslides, debris, and falling rocks have been reported between Gaurikund and Sonprayag, which have disrupted both walking and road routes. A large amount of debris has accumulated on these paths, making the journey extremely risky. A few days ago, the Yatra had already been temporarily halted for similar reasons. Monsoon-triggered landslides frequently occur, making travel hazardous during such adverse weather. Authorities have stated that the yatra will not resume until all routes are completely cleared and safe. Pilgrims are urged to postpone their journey and follow safety advisories.
