🌸 Shimla: CM Kanyadaan Scheme Proves Boon for Poor Daughters, Natural Farming Empowers Himachal's Farmers 🌸
327 girls in Mandi district receive ₹1.06 crore under the scheme, grateful families thank CM Sukhu
Shimla, October 17, 2025 — The Chief Minister's Kanyadaan Yojana, launched by the Himachal Pradesh government to support the marriage of daughters from poor families, is bringing significant positive changes in people’s lives.
Between April 2023 and July 2025, the state disbursed ₹1,06,67,000 to 327 girls in Mandi district under this scheme.
The assistance amount has now been increased to ₹51,000 per family, easing the financial burden of marriage.
Beneficiaries express gratitude
Mrs. Banita from Pandal village, whose daughter Vandana got married in January 2020, shared:
“I lost my husband in 2016. The government gave me ₹59,000, which helped me tremendously in arranging my daughter’s wedding. I’m thankful to CM Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.”
Mrs. Kiran from Sarkaghat and her daughter Komal Thakur also benefited from the scheme.
“We learned about the scheme through Anganwadi. The amount was received without much paperwork. It eased my mother’s expenses. We’re very grateful to the CM and government.”
Natural farming brings success to Himachali farmers
Through the Natural Farming Khushal Kisan Yojana, the state government is providing technical support, training, and market assistance.
In Kangra district, during 2024-25, the government purchased 836.94 quintals of wheat from 358 farmers for ₹51.89 lakh, and 53.69 quintals of turmeric from 13 farmers for ₹4.83 lakh.
Success stories of Suresh Kumar and Kamla Devi
Mr. Suresh Kumar of Trembloo village in Dharamshala grows black wheat, sugar-free red rice, green peas, French beans, soybeans, and maize using natural methods.
“The government bought my wheat at ₹60/kg and gave an additional ₹2/kg bonus. I received seeds and support too. I thank the government.”
Mrs. Kamla Devi of Mutt village received training through Atma Pariyojana and now uses Jeeva Amrit, Beej Amrit, and Agni Astra in her farming.
“I sold my wheat at ₹60/kg and also received a bonus. I thank the government from the bottom of my heart.”
Dragon fruit cultivation revolution by Rajendra Kumar
Mr. Rajendra Kumar of Bhoranj (Hamirpur) planted a dragon fruit orchard on 5 kanal land after receiving a ₹29,160 subsidy from the Horticulture Department.
This innovative initiative is proving that low-water, low-altitude areas like Hamirpur can also succeed in fruit cultivation.
The government is also promoting mango, guava, and lemon farming, and schemes like the HP Shiva Project are helping establish Himachal as a fruit-producing state.
