Madhya Pradesh: Over 5 lakh devotees visit Nagchandreshwar Temple in Ujjain on Nag Panchami
On the occasion of Nag Panchami, the doors of Ujjain's Nagchandreshwar Temple were opened for devotees at midnight on Monday, and by 1:30 PM Tuesday, more than 5 lakh devotees had visited the temple. Situated on the third floor of the Mahakaleshwar Temple, this shrine opens only once a year—for 24 hours on Nag Panchami—making it a spiritually significant occasion. The 11th-century rare idol, brought from Nepal, depicts Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati resting on a serpent bed, making this temple unique and sacred. Due to the massive crowd, devotees can only view the idol from a distance, and long queues continue to stretch around the premises. The temple administration has made special arrangements to manage the orderly flow of visitors.
