Madhya Pradesh: Bhasma Aarti at Mahakaleshwar Temple on Sawan Shivratri, wave of devotion across the country

On the auspicious occasion of Sawan Shivratri, temples across the country echoed with devotion and chants of ‘Har Har Mahadev’. From midnight, long queues of devotees gathered outside Shiva temples, offering water, milk, curd, and ghee to Lord Shiva. At the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple in Ujjain, special Vedic rituals and worship were performed in the morning, followed by the famous Bhasma Aarti, which saw massive participation.

Devotees from all corners of India arrived with Ganga water to offer it to Lord Shiva. It is believed that performing Jalabhishek on Sawan Shivratri fulfills all wishes and brings peace and happiness. The scenes of devotion and faith seen today at Shiva temples across the country were truly mesmerizing and spiritually uplifting.
