Shimla: State Pollution Control Board Organizes Awareness Programs Promoting ‘Green Diwali’

Under the directions of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board organized large-scale awareness campaigns in government schools across several districts, promoting the message of ‘Clean and Green Diwali’ to reduce air and noise pollution. Programs were held in Bilaspur, Kangra, Shimla, Chamba, Una, Sirmaur, Solan, and Hamirpur. The Central Laboratory at Parwanoo organized events on the theme ‘Clean Diwali, Green Diwali,’ where students held rallies to raise awareness about the harmful effects of firecrackers, followed by slogan writing and rangoli competitions. Similarly, the Regional Laboratory at Paonta Sahib conducted programs in Sirmaur district schools, encouraging students and communities to celebrate an eco-friendly Diwali. Activities included poster making, slogan writing, and speech competitions to spread the Green Diwali message. Principal Scientist Dr. Hitendra Kumar Sharma delivered a lecture on the ill effects of firecrackers, urging everyone to celebrate Diwali in an environment-friendly manner. Certificates and prizes were awarded to winners. Likewise, at Ghaniara Senior Secondary School, students organized a rally and created a beautiful rangoli decorated with earthen lamps to promote a clean and green Diwali.
